MMS MISSION STATEMENT
The mission of Midland Montessori School is to provide an environment based on life experiences and reflections which encourages children to develop Respect, Responsibility, and Resourcefulness.
Re-enrollment Due: MMS is now accepting new enrollment. Please be sure you return your re-enrollment form to ensure your child's spot at MMS. If you have any questions regarding what program will best meet your child's needs, please stop by my office or give me a call.
Registration Packets:
Registration Packets will be available at the school the week of March 5,2010. Make sure you stop by the school and pick up your packet by March 19th. All the forms within the packet must be completed and returned by April 9, 2010 with the exception of the Health Form which is due by July 9th.Please try to schedule your child's health exam for the summer so that their Health Form will be good for the entire school year.
Summer Program Information:
Registration for our Summer Program has begun. Miss Stephanie is the lead teacher for the 3 - 5 year old Montessori Summer Program. Remember MMS also offers a 5 - 8 year old program for siblings and friends. Share the news that great things will be happening this summer! Deadline for guaranteed enrollment for current Montessori students enrolled for the full summer is February 5, 2010. Open enrollment begins February 8, 2010.
Summer Infant/Toddler Program: Applications for our Summer Infant/Toddler Programs are due back Friday, February 5, 2010 in the front office. MMS is looking forward to the warm days when the children can work outside in Practical Life, gardening, and water activities. We hope to see your child enjoying these activities this summer.
Fundraising and Special Events: Fundraising continues as we gather our box tops for the mail in date of February 26th. We would lik all box tops to be in the school by the 25th so that they can be counted and packaged up for mailing. Classrooms 1, 2 & 7 have just recently earned a classroom treat. Nice Job!!!
To date we have received general donations totaling $845. We thank our Tuition Plus families who continue to contribute and would like to acknowledge another generous donation from the Powell Family. We have one grant being reviewed which is specifically aimed at getting the wooden playground forts replaced this spring. There are others in the works and we hope to accomplish our goals by late spring or early summer.
We know that everyone cannot always help out financially so keep your eyes and ears open to a time when we may need your help in another way. If we reach our financial goal for the forts we may need your help to tear them down or put in the new one. We will be looking for donations for our picnic auction whether it's individual items, a unique basket, gift certificates or services of some kind. Just contact me if you have any ideas or questions. I will be touching base with you about this in the upcoming months.
I hope that everyone who attended the Create a Book and Spirit Tile Night enjoyed themselves. We have a lot of great new tiles around the school. Our next family event, after our Sweetheart Dance, will be a Book Fair the first part of April and a Family Storybook Night to be scheduled sometime during the week of April 19th. Watch for more information to come to you via email.
Hope to see you at the Dance!!! ------- Miss Nancy
Sweet Heart Dance:
Tickets are still available for those interested in attending this fun night. Remember that spots are limited and we will only be selling 45 tickets. We have already passed the half way point in our sales, so stop by the front office and get yours from Miss Pegg.
Montessori Week: Midland Montessori School will celebrate Montessori Week February 21st thru the 27th. There will be a food drive, a peace sing-a-long, baking in all classrooms for the local police and fire departments and time spent discovering who Maria Montessori was and her hope to teach peace around the world. Watch for more info to be e-mailed out on February 8th.
Board Elections: Beginning March 17, 2010 we will be soliciting for people to fill the upcoming vacancies on the MMS Board of Directors. If you are someone that is interested in contributing your time, energy and expertise to being involved in your child's education please consider serving on our Board. Forms will be distributed to tell you how to indicate your interest. Positions being vacated are Secretary, a two year term, Treasure, a two year term, and three Members at Large positions; each a one year term.
Your Child's Future Education At MMS: Looking ahead to your child's educational future; if your child will be moving into a new classroom next year please take the opportunity to observe that classroom now. By stopping by those new environments you will see how things progress and change and thus allow you to help your child make the transition when the time comes. We want you, along with your child, ready to take the next step in their educational experience.
